Relationship Time Spent Together per Day Percentile Calculator

See how your relationship time spent together per day compares with a relevant reference population.

Empirical weighted diary distribution

Methodology / Source

BLS — 2025 American Time Use Survey microdata
ATUS 2025 Interview Data Dictionary

Humanlytic analyzed 3,476 weighted 2025 diary respondents with a spouse or unmarried partner present in the household. It uses BLS variables TRTSPOUSE or TRTUNMPART and TUFINLWGT. Those measures count nonwork time with the partner while others may also be present; sleeping and activities without “who-with” responses are excluded. Results use empirical 30-minute cumulative anchors, with no normal model or interpolation.

About this calculator

What this calculator measures

See how your relationship time spent together per day compares with a relevant reference population. The comparison uses the reference population and evidence identified on this page.

How to interpret your result

For relationship-duration results, the displayed percentile or range describes how many relationships in the cited comparison group had a shorter duration. It is descriptive, not a judgment about relationship quality.

Methodology

How this works

Evidence quality

Calculated from survey data

Method

Humanlytic uses the 2025 ATUS respondent-file variables TRTSPOUSE or TRTUNMPART for respondents whose spouse or unmarried partner was present in the household, weighted by TUFINLWGT. It reports exact empirical 30-minute cumulative anchors or the range between adjacent anchors, without interpolation or a normal model.

Data source

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — 2025 American Time Use Survey microdata

Limitations

Humanlytic uses BLS spouse/unmarried-partner nonwork co-presence fields. Sleeping, work time, and activities without who-with data are excluded. Results use empirical 30-minute cumulative anchors; 2025 has no October diaries because of the federal shutdown.
