Wrist accelerometry over seven days in 8,762 adults. Mean: 8,818 steps/day (95% CI 8,676–8,961). Published threshold shares: 48.6% of adults under 60 reached 9,000 steps; 44.8% of adults 60+ reached 7,000.

About this calculator

What this calculator measures

See how your daily steps compares with a relevant reference population. The comparison uses the reference population and evidence identified on this page.

How to interpret your result

A percentile describes the approximate percentage of the stated reference population with a lower value. When a source supports only categories, medians, or averages, Humanlytic shows that broader comparison instead of inventing an exact percentile.

Method

Humanlytic compares the entered step count with the paper’s age-specific threshold: 9,000 steps/day for adults under 60 or 7,000 for adults 60 and older. The paper reports that 48.6% and 44.8%, respectively, met those thresholds. Without a full distribution, no exact percentile is generated.

Data source

Limitations

The study reports a mean and the shares meeting age-specific step thresholds, not a complete step-count percentile distribution. Humanlytic therefore reports only the supported side of the documented threshold and does not invent a curve.
